Before your first Class
Q: I've never done Pilates before. Can I still join?
Absolutely! You don’t need any previous experience to get started. We offer beginner classes – look out for our fundamentals or restorative classes. We have open-level classes suitable for all abilities, and some intermediate and advanced sessions. If you’re unsure which class is best for you, just get in touch, we’re always happy to help.
Q: How do I book a class?
Booking is easy through our online booking system Momence or the Momence app. If you’re not sure which class to choose or need any help, simply get in touch and we’ll point you in the right direction. You can also book your first class from this page: Book a class
Q: What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that you can move easily in. Grip socks are recommended for our apparatus classes, i.e. reformer, springboard, studio circuit and wunda chair. Don’t worry we have them to buy in the studio if you don’t have any.
Q: What should I bring?
Just bring yourself and a bottle of water. We provide all the Pilates equipment you’ll need for your class.
Q: How early should I arrive?
We recommend arriving 5-10 minutes before your class starts, especially if it’s your first visit. This gives you time to settle in, meet your teacher, and discuss any injuries or questions. Please avoid arriving too early to give the class before you time to leave and the teachers to reset the studio.
Q: Is there free parking?
Yes. There is plenty of free parking available in the Lansbury Car Park, located directly outside the building.
Choosing and booking your class
Q: What's the difference between Mat Pilates and Reformer Pilates?
Q: How many people are in each class?
We believe smaller classes create a better experience for everyone. Our Mat Pilates classes have a maximum of 12 people, while our apparatus classes are limited to just 5 – reformer and springboard, 6 studio circuit and wunda chair, giving you plenty of individual guidance and support from your teacher.
Q: Which class should I choose?
Q: Is Pilates suitable for older adults?
Absolutely. Pilates is suitable for adults of all ages and can be adapted to different fitness levels, mobility, and individual needs. We have Buff Bones on a Monday morning, this is a medically endorsed program that is safe for anyone with osteoporosis. It is a slower paced mat based class also suitable for anyone coming back from injury.
Q: I'm pregnant. Can I still do Pilates?
Pilates can be a great way to stay active during pregnancy, but it’s important to choose the right class. We have several teachers on the team with pre natal qualifications. Please contact us before booking so we can discuss the best options for you.
Q: Can I attend if I have joint pain or a previous injury?
Yes. Book your free consultation, this way we can take a short medical history and advise on the right class for your needs. Often people start with a couple of 1:1’s until they feel confident to join a class. Our qualified teachers can offer modifications and alternative exercises where appropriate to help you move safely and comfortably. If you are recovering from surgery or have a significant medical condition, we recommend consulting your healthcare professional before attending. Our Restorative classes are suitable for you.
Q: Do you offer private sessions?
Yes, we offer one-to-one sessions and Duets for anyone looking for a more personalised approach. Whether you’re new to Pilates, recovering from an injury, or want to progress more quickly, private sessions can be tailored specifically to your needs. Please contact us for availability.
Q: What if I need to cancel my booking?
You can cancel the class the same way as booking, in a few clicks on the app. Please refer to our cancellation policy when booking. Please cancel as early as possible in line with our cancellation policy, so we have the opportunity to offer your space to someone else.
Still have a question?
